One of the founders of the Abkhazian Soviet literature. Special popularity got collections of short stories, "The Abkhaz novella" (1957), "Alamys" (1961), "The one who killed Doe" (1982), written on the Abkhazian folklore - historical songs, stories, parables and legends. Novels of Lakerbay concerned about the depth of penetration into the soul of the people, they clearly reveal the themes of love for the fatherland, martial prowess, the high mutual respect, friendship, chivalrous attitude toward women.
